1956 Houston Parade of Homes – The Champion House

7534 Cayton St. – Houston TX (architect: P. Herbert Caldwell)

From an advertisement for the 1956 Houston Parade of Homes brochure (thanks to GlenbrookValley.com):

When a house is good enough to be called ‘The Champion’ it ought to be a pretty good home. And in the case of the house built at 7534 Cayton by George O’Sullivan to the design of Herbert Caldwell, Jr., it is.

Mr. O’Sullivan has used quarter sawn flooring in the three bedrooms and other area where Vinyl tile would not be necessary. ‘This type of flooring appears to hold up better and to many is more appealing than standard strip flooring,’ he said. The exterior is of Holiday Hillstone, manufactured by Tex-Crete. Sturdy, durable construction with attractive as well as practical aspects aid in making ‘The Champion’ a winner.
