Welcome! We’re collecting images, ephemera, and stories about Houston’s Westbury Square. The Italian village-inspired shopping center was developed by Ira Berne around 1962 from a leftover tract of land in the Westbury subdivision. By the early 1970s, with the opening of the Galleria shopping mall, Westbury Square would never see the popularity it once had. After Berne sold the shopping center it went in to further decline and is now completely abandoned. Almost half of Westbury Square was demolished in the mid-1990s to make room for a Home Depot store.
