With the dwindling amount of 1930s-era art deco architecture in Houston, it is particularly sad to see Weingarten, which has significant roots in Houston, alter a shopping center that is unique - they also own the Alabama Theater/Shopping center which in itself endangers it.
i would venture to say that 9602 moonlight is on of Houston's most interesting modern houses. it was designed and built in 1964 by Robert Cohen who lived there until 2004 - he sold it to superlawyer John O'Quinn, who apparently just recently sold it to somebody who plans to demolish it.

O'Quinn let the house deteriorate for the past three years - even though the landscaping and pool has been kept up nicely, the smell of mold is pretty strong from the driveway.

The 1947 Harvey Houck house at 3780 Gramercy in Braes Heights has been demolished. The owner, Richard Serbin, owned the house for several years during which the house was neglected. While the home would have been able to be restored, Serbin demolished the home, subdivided the lot, and out them up for sale.
