Kraft Foods Branch Building – Houston

1010 Washington Ave. – Houston TX (built 1950; demolished 2011)

The new Kraft Foods Company distributing branch is located at 1010 Washington Avenue, in one of the most modern buildings in the city. The building contains approximately 23,000 square feet of floor area, of which about 5,000 is cold storage space. A few of the outstanding features include an inside incinerator, automatic cooler doors which are opened and closed by air, and electric doors on the garage. The exterior is all brick, with the exception of Colorado Red Stone used around the entrance. Builders of the impressive structure were S.Y. Guthrie and Associates, Inc.
