2500 block Rice Blvd. – Houston TX (built 1946; architect: Eugene Werlin)
Designed by Eugene Werlin (see Wilshire Village Apartments), this building is actually two buildings to look like one and was to originally house ten shops. From the March 21, 1946 issue of the Southwestern Times:
“Construction will be of concrete, brick and hollow tile with show windows set back at an angle to provide maximum display.”
[…] “The two buildings are designed to give the impression of one structure.”
