From the August 22, 1947 issue of the Southwest Citizen:
MODERN BEAUTY of straight, clean cut design, is found in this beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. B.M. Lay, 5212 Laurel. The home, designed by architect Philip Willard, is one of a group of ceramic homes which are not only striking in their architectural planning, but efficient and comfortable. Built entirely of tile, concrete and plaster products, they are the ultimate in sturdy homes construction. […] Carrying out the modern design, it has numerous built-in features, large plate glass windows that give a broad, sweeping view of of the lawn and outdoor patio. Mr. Willard has used the windows to virtually bring the outdoors inside.
