2406 Wheeler Ave. – Houston TX (built 1960s)

The Dowling Veterinary Clinic (most recently the Midtown Healing Group) opened in 1960 by Ford B. McWilliams, one of the first licensed African American veterinarians in Texas. The clinic was also home to a mural about animals by John Biggers titled Red Barn commissioned by Dr. McWillians. Also, an original attached neighbor at 2408 Wheeler was the Malissa Book Store.
