From Houston Magazine, early 1951:
Due to the rapidly increasing number of Chinese merchants in Houston, it has become necessary for the Association to erect this combination club, apartment and store building at a cost of $200,000. On the ground floor will be five stores. The second floor will consist of apartments, a kitchen and a lunch room. On the third floor will be the Association’s Club, consisting of a meeting room, ball room, chamber, offices, check room and equipment room.
