1956 Houston Parade of Homes – Holiday/Vista House

7546 Cayton St. – Houston TX (architect: A. Carroll Brodnax)

From an advertisement for the 1956 Houston Parade of Homes brochure (thanks to GlenbrookValley.com):

A rippling spray fountain, played on by multi-colored lights, has been installed at the front entrance. The water cascades into a reflection pool, where it is swept up and used again in a unique method of recirculation. Backdrop for this invitation to pleasant living is a used brick wall, which is also one side of the carport.

The builders see this house as having practically endless living applications to suit the owners. Exposed beam construction and brick interior, as well as exterior walls, open up all sorts of possibilities for living that begins inside and goes outside with the spring and summer. Carriage lamps ride the column of a decorative cedar fence which screens the patio.
